This could have been possible for Ethan who condoned the violation and murder of his only child.īut wait a minute! Didn’t I say that Val also condoned the murder of many innocent children in my last post? And now she’s the leader of a Heretic. In the real world some people change religions, political parties, even places where they live, because they don’t agree with the beliefs that are set. So what does this mean? It means the Ethan’s beliefs are different than others. But, a sane man like Ethan doesn’t seem to agree for either. The cult in the game believes children have to die for a paradise to come about while the Heretics want the chaos. Basically, it’s about values and what you believe. A belief system is “a set of principles or tenets which together form the basis of a religion, philosophy, or moral code” (oxford dictionary). And to understand them, we need to understand the belief system. But I think I’ve figured it out.įor understanding Ethan, we have to first understand about cults. It is one of the most important questions on the internet that has yet to be solved. But why is that so? No one can come up with any close explanation for it. We see this in Outlast 2 where the cult has the latter and the Heretics have the former. We know this from a VERY IMPORTANT DOCUMENT related to the frequencies tested on owls that either makes them have a ravenous sexual appetite or an appetite for homicide. In my last post, I’ve already mentioned about how the Murkoff Corporation from the first Outlast game is experimenting with radio frequencies, hence the radio towers in the area. Now, enough dawdling on! It’s time to understand the phenomenon behind Ethan, which means trying to understand how Ethan is not affected by Christians and the Heretics. I laughed in mirth when Marta was impaled by a cross~ #ironyatitsbest He was our only ally who was very loyal and he was a loving dad who lied about where his daughter was (and we had to lie to him that she’s still alive).
I don’t know about you, but Ethan was my favorite character. And just when we think he might give us up, he doesn’t and dies while keeping us hidden. He gives him a bed to rest on for a while under his floorboards, until we’re woken up by Marta, one of the cut’s strong members and a crazy lady, who interrogates him. We meet Ethan as we escape the cult, who basically did abandon the cult by not giving his daughter up and hiding Blake. But then she died, mostly likely due to strangulation by the cult members who caught up to her, as Lynn, the protagonist, Blake’s wife, points out and which was the couple’s intial goal to investigate until they crash landed into a horrible nightmare that isn’t a nightmare for them. Ethan is a broken-hearted dad who buys time for his 15 year old daughter, Anna Lee, who was raped and impregnated by the dictator and priest, Sullivan Knoth, to escape from the deranged baby-killing cult.
